Dude, I’m So Spiritual Right Now…

    2008 - 07.06

Sometimes, modern medicine reverts to Hippie culture.

Researchers at the University of Baltimore have tested a new drug treatment for patients with addictions and terminal illnesses. It involved prescribing psilocybin, better known as the hallucinogenic ingredient in “magic mushrooms” (a.k.a. ’shrooms’). While Aztecs and other Mesoamerican cultures are believed to have used these fungi for divinatory purposes, modern medicine is now looking into its long-term effects on the mind.

Volunteers in 2006 who were given the drug over a 24-hour period experienced “spiritual” and “mystical” experiences, having a profound effect on their mood… for over a year after ingestion.

Over half of the test subjects reported that taking the drug resulted in “one of the most meaningful experiences of their lives,” according to researchers.

The mushrooms which carry the psychoactive drug are, of course, illegal in the United States as well as several other countries.

Who thought the day would come when your doctor would tell you, “Get stoned, have a shamanic awakening, and call me in the morning.

What If God Was One of Us…

God has some real explaining to do.

God Lucky Howard (yes, that’s his real name) was arrested in Tampa, Florida for selling crack cocaine. Outside of a church!

Police have been hot on God’s trail since April. Last month, they obtained a warrant and found an additional 22 grams of cocaine in his home. He was arrested on June 21st and remains in jail.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t have a son named Jesus. That could spell disaster.

    Plots for Potheads…

Three teenagers in Texas were in desperate need of a marijuana fix. Since they didn’t happen to have a bong handy, they decided to improvise.

Allegedly, the druggie trio sneaked into an abandoned cemetery in the woods near Humble over a two-day period, dug up the grave of an 11-year-old boy who passed away in 1921, removed the skull from the interred body, and carried the head home to smoke marijuana out of the cranium.

Police were questioning Kevin Wade Jones Jr., 17, on a charge of vehicular burglary when he recounted the tale. The police thought it was merely an attempt to throw them off course.

When they went to the home of Matthew Gonzalez, 17, and asked him about the story, he spit his food out at the dining table.

Police have charged them all with abuse of a corpse. Gonzalez was also charged with misdemeanor theft for the vehicle break-in while Jones and the unnamed third juvenile each face charges of credit card abuse.

And the skull? It’s still missing. Authorities are still attempting to locate it in an effort to place it back in the grave.

The cemetery is believed to have been the final resting place for black war veterans and their families.

Diligently Following the Campaign Treasure Trail…

    2008 - 02.20

With the US presidential campaigns finally kicking into high gear, there was bound to be some controversies and allegations sooner or later. Barack Obama is edging out Hillary Clinton for Democratic nominee. And now, a man has come forward with allegations of Obama’s recent past, only to be ignored by mainstream media.

What’s the fuss all about? Oh, nothing serious. Just that Obama smoked crack cocaine and received oral sex from a man in 1999.

A man named Larry Sinclair recently came forward with this bold statement. He posted a YouTube video concerning the matter and claims that soon afterward, Obama and the Democratic National Committee began threatening and intimidating him. He went so far as to file a lawsuit against them on February 11th.

According to Sinclair, the incident took place in his limousine. He also stated that the then-Illinois legislator purchased powdered cocaine for him. They then proceeded to a hotel where… well, you can fill in the rest with your imagination.

Is the story true? We should find out before the March 4th primary elections. Sinclair was paid $10,000 for his story by Whitehouse.com and they are administering a polygraph test on February 26th. If the test results show he is telling the truth, he’ll be given an extra $100,000 by the news agency.

Could this damage Obama’s campaign? Of course. But even if the allegations are true, at least he opted to have a sex scandal before entering the Oval Office…
