    The XXX Files…

    2008 - 09.01

You may know David Duchovny as Fox Mulder, one of the two FBI agents from the television series X Files. The movie came out this summer with an apathetic fanfare. Now, Duchovny, 48, has followed the footsteps of so many other Hollywood stars and entered rehab.

But he’s not an alcoholic or cocaine junkie. Duchovny has a sex addiction.

In an ironic twist, this year Duchovny won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of a sex-addicted struggling writer on Californication. Sometimes, life imitates art.

Duchovny is asking for people to respect his privacy at this time. It has been a difficult time for him, his wife Téa Leoni, and their two children.

Back in 1998, Leoni squashed rumors of her husband’s high libido. “David was accused of being a sex addict,” she said. “Which I always found very exciting. And then I found out it wasn’t true.”

Apparently, I Want to Believe turned into ‘the truth is out there’.

    Television Imitates Life?

    2008 - 05.09

I’m one of those nerdy people who still enjoys X Files. With recent events in my life, and a little insight from Mysterious Creature, I’m finding a theme from the show to be all too uncannily true.

    Trust no one.

It is a sad revelation, yet a fundamental reality for me. Friendship is a valuable commodity in my world. I place it higher in rank than many other things. I often blindly trust people. Perhaps that’s my own downfall…

I won’t get involved in details. I just thought I’d toss out some words of wisdom learned from unfortunate experience.

    They’re Back…

    2008 - 04.19

For those who are yet unaware, on July 25th a new X Files movie will hit the theaters.

Agents Mulder and Scully will once again return to the big screen, though it will be different from the first movie in every possible way. Instead of the quest for UFO proof which dominated the storyline during the end of the television series, the new movie will hearken back to the beginnings of the show. The plot involves monsters and the paranormal instead of aliens.

Just this week, they finally announced the title: I Want to Believe.

Though the series has been off the air for a long time, it remains a bit of a cult classic. At times, it could be a bit campy, though a streak of humor always kept things amusing. And of course, the show was never afraid of poking a little fun at itself.
